50 Years 50 Faces

Konstantin Schaab

Student in the 5th programme semester (Business Information Systems)

At FHWS since 01 October 2019

For me, FHWS is ...
the perfect combination of internationality, informal atmosphere and exciting degree programmes which can be used to actively shape the future for the coming generations.

What do you appreciate about FHWS?

I particularly appreciate the genuine and familial interactions at FHWS. I can approach the lecturers and employees at FHWS at any time and about any topic. We meet on an equal footing and with sincere words. In my opinion, that is hugely important in this day and age.

What was the best decision in your professional career and why? What has changed since then?

Since I am in the 5th semester of my bachelor's programme, I have only been able to make a few career decisions. The best decision during my two years at FHWS so far was the decision to take a position as a working student with a logistics service provider in the Würzburg area. There, I gather valuable practical experience and am able to connect my theoretical knowledge with valuable practice experiences. I am also spending my internship semester with this company in Norway. A successful introduction to my professional future, in my opinion.

What do you think has shaped FHWS the most over the last 50 years?

Since I have only been a student at FHWS for two years, it’s hard for me to say. But I think that the internationalisation and globalisation of society and the economic hustle and bustle have significantly shaped FHWS.

What is your vision of the future for FHWS? What might FHWS look like in 50 years’ time?

My future version of FHWS is clear: we develop a clever hybrid system, a mode of study consisting of virtual and in-person course sessions. This will combine the advantages of both approaches and take students’ working methods into account.

What is your insider tip for the cities of Würzburg or Schweinfurt and why?

An insider tip for all students at the Faculty of Computer Science and Business Information Systems is the perfectly situated steps on the Sanderheinrichsleitenweg campus. You can enjoy a relaxed lunch break there and recharge your batteries for learning. But there are plenty of magical places in Würzburg outside our campus too. A sunset over the fortress, sporting activities on the Main with a cool down afterwards or a good wine with friends.
