Industrial Mathematics
The aim of the bachelor's degree programme in Industrial Mathematics is to acquire the ability to work in the professional field of a mathematician in the technical application areas of mathematics, based on a scientific foundation. As an industrial mathematician, one typically converts physical-technical problems into a mathematical model in the form of equations. Subsequently, solutions are determined through computer simulations. Finally, statements for the original problem are obtained from the solutions of the mathematical model. This is usually an iterative process. Other typical activities are the analysis of sensor data and the programming of data evaluations to control technical processes.
In addition to mathematical skills, the required competences in physics, programming and technical subjects (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering) are also taught right from the start.
Another part of this education is working in groups to develop solutions to problems from the technical field.
