Objective
Gas-filled high-performance foil thermal insulation is to be developed as part of the proposed project. These foil thermal insulations can open up energy efficiency potential in a wide range of applications in buildings and hot water storage tanks as well as in the energy-efficient refurbishment of buildings.
Project content
Specifically, the planned development involves foil systems based on air cushion foils, which ensure defined distances between infrared-reflecting foils thanks to the air cushions they contain. This type of high-performance thermal insulation is particularly lightweight and can provide the same insulating effect as conventional insulating materials in smaller insulation thicknesses. It can also be flexibly installed in façades (e.g. as insulation between rafters) and on heat storage tanks (adapted to the rounded shape of hot water tanks) The project is being carried out in close cooperation with the Centre for Applied Energy Research e.V. (CAE) in Würzburg.
