New support program for female students at the FHWS

The ICS #Femtal is a new support program for female students at THWS.

ICS #Femtal was offered for the first time in the 2022 winter semester at the IW faculty (computer science and business informatics and e-commerce course).

The students are nominated according to various criteria. On the one hand after the ECTS already received (<55) and after the grade (<2.4) AFTER the 2nd semester. '

In November 2021, a total of 18 female students from the faculty were then selected for the 3 bachelor’s degree programs:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science,

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Informatics and

  • Bachelor's degree in E-Commerce.

Ten of the nominated students subsequently took part in the company event. Then seven applications were received.

Each of the four companies involved in the support program has concluded at least one contract.

A total of five funding contracts have been concluded. With more than 25% allocation of the nominees, we are happy about a successful start of this program, which was carried out in cooperation with the women's representative of THWS, Prof. Dr. Christina Völkl-Wolf and the ICS.

Advantages:

  • Financial support (approx. €1,100 per month) from the start of the programme

  • No search for companies for the practical semester

  • Choice of companies

  • Concrete job prospect

  • Lifelong participation and participation in the ICS network (lectures, contacts)

Talks about ICS Femtal with the German-Jordanian University (GJU) are currently pending as a further development.
