Admission and enrolment

When you have been admitted to studies at our university, the letter of admission will become available in the THWS Application Portal. This letter will not be sent by e-mail or mail additionally. If you accept the place at THWS, you will be asked to enter additional information into the THWS Application Portal (e.g. information regarding your health insurance ), to upload a passport photo as well as to provide some confirmations about the enrolment.

Later, you will see the documents you still have to upload to APPLY to make a proper enrolment possible. When the enrolment documents are complete and your payment of the semester fee has been registered, from the beginning of March (for the summer semester) or from mid-September (for the winter semester) you will receive your THWS IT login data also via APPLY. With this data, you can now use the IT infrastructure of THWS.
In addition, you will be sent your THWS Card, that is if you provided a German address in APPLY.

With this, the enrolment procedure is complete and you can start your studies at THWS.

Please note:

In addition to possessing a higher education entrance qualification (if applying for a bachelor’s programme) or a bachelor’s certificate (if applying for a master’s programme), you will have to prove German language proficiency (applies to international applicants in particular) and/or English language or other foreign language proficiency (applies mainly for English-taught degree programmes) in order to be enrolled. On the following pages, but also on the information sheet available from the form centre, you will find more about language requirements.

Special feature of the English-language Bachelor's degree programmes Robotics and Mechatronics:

Applicants with non-EU higher education entrance qualification (exceptions: Graduates of the “Studienkollegs bei den Bayerischen Fachhochschulen” and graduates of German Schools outside of Europe offering the “Abitur”) need to take the test for academic studies TestAS or the scholastic assessment test SAT.

TestAS involves completing the Core Test as well as the subject-specific Engineering Module. In both parts, a standard value/TestAS score of 100 is assumed in order to enrol. The value "100" in both test parts applies to both the paper-based and the digital TestAS. For more information about registering and completing TestAS, please refer to the TestAS-website.

Alternatively, a minimum of 1050 points must have been scored in the scholastic assessment test SAT. For further informations, please refer to the SAT suite | College board.

Proof of successful participation at a preparatory course replaces the requirement to take the scholastic assessment test if the applicant has successfully completed a preparatory course at one of our partner universities or a “Studienkolleg”, which according to a valid cooperation agreement between the two higher education institutions prepare candidates for studies at our university.

Applicants applying for a higher semester of the degree programmes do not need to submit proof either.
