For companies

CraftTURN measures
Is your company looking for trainees?
Are you looking for suitable apprentices who meet the requirements of your company?
We connect the SMEs in the Schweinfurt region with international students at risk of dropping out of university with the objectives of counteracting the shortage of skilled workers and offering our students a new professional perspective in Germany.
Placement
In our CraftTURN project, we raise awareness among students who are considering dropping out of university or have already done so about the concept of dual vocational training. At the same time, we support them with career guidance and skills assessment. Through our holistic advisory approach, we aim to prepare potential trainees as effectively as possible for their professional future in Germany.
When placing students, we work closely with local businesses, as well as with institutions such as the Immigration Office, to clarify legal hurdles and requirements before training begins. Another key focus of our counselling is language proficiency. Students are encouraged to aim for B2 level. In addition to the legal requirement for B1 level, experience has shown that achieving the higher B2 level is beneficial for following the training programme effectively, both in the workplace and at vocational school, and for successfully completing it.
We would be delighted to include your company in our network so that you can meet students who have recently left higher education as potential trainees.
Language training
As learning the German language is an important cornerstone to finding the right professional training position, we support dropouts in finding the right language course. At THWS, we offer recognised, certified language courses. These courses include vocabulary from everyday professional life to prepare our dropouts for their apprenticeship.
THWS also offers a language café to promote the use of the German language. In addition to the offers by THWS, we also recommend offers by the city or the district, for example courses offered by the Volkshochschule (adult education centre) or initiatives of volunteers and associations.
Immigration authority
As there are a number of immigration-related issues to be clarified when transitioning from university studies to vocational training, we assist students leaving our University in communicating with the relevant immigration authorities. We are therefore in direct contact with staff at the Immigration Office of the City of Schweinfurt. Together, we try to find the simplest possible way to resolve legal issues and make the necessary arrangements to ensure a successful transition from university studies to dual vocational training.
We are also happy to assist companies in this regard, helping to address any queries they may have. Furthermore, we support students leaving university in sorting out matters such as finding suitable accommodation.
Visits to companies or workshops
In collaboration with chambers of commerce and training providers, we regularly organise company tours, giving businesses the opportunity to engage directly with university dropouts and meet potential future employees. We also maintain close contact with Region Mainfranken GmbH, which regularly organises company tours, and the Gesellschaft für berufliche Bildung, which offers workshop projects.
If you would like to host a company tour at your premises to recruit potential trainees, please feel free to contact us via the contact form.
