Applied Mathematics (B. Sc.)

Hi, I’m Lilli and I study Applied Mathematics.

When I was in school, maths was already one of my favourite subjects, so I knew quickly that I wanted to study something in this field. However, a pure mathematics degree programme seemed way to theoretical. Today I’m more than happy with my choice for applied maths.

In this program you will not only visit math lectures but also Computer Science and courses about mathematical software and simulation, which is used to solve real-world problems. Also, you can set your focus in business or engineering and this way give special attention to what interests you most.

At first, I was a bit sceptical because the campus and the course are smaller than at big universities, which from today’s view I’d see as an advantage: the lectures are more personal, which makes interaction with each other - also with the professor - easier and you will quickly get to know your fellow students. Also, the campus in Schweinfurt is quite international, so it will be easy to make friends from all around the world.

Studying maths might sound scary to some but if you are interested and motivated there’s no reason to worry.

Hello, I'm Jule and E-Commerce graduate

From a young age, I have been interested in marketing and media. I chose the THWS and this degree programme because I was convinced by the practical orientation. The career opportunities are very diverse, with positions in areas such as online marketing, IT project management, online shop management, user experience design and, of course, e-commerce being possible.

Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (B.Eng.)

Hi, I'm Peer and I'm studying Electrical Engineering and Information Technology

What convinced me to choose this degree was the perfect combination of mathematics, physics, and programming. This mix makes the program both diverse and engaging, while providing a broad foundation for more advanced courses and practical work within a company.

One of the things I like about THWS is the wide range of core and specialization modules. I also appreciate the relatively small class sizes, which allow close interaction with lecturers and create a pleasant learning environment.

After graduation, there are many possible career paths, such as working in e-mobility, energy supply, or even software development. The career prospects are very diverse, and graduates are in high demand across various industries.

Geovisualisation (B.Eng.)

Hello, I'm David and I'm studying Geovisualisation at THWS.

I chose to study geovisualisation because it combines the fields of geography, modern technologies and creative design. I enjoy presenting spatial information in such a way that it can be conveyed clearly and vividly, and I appreciate that geovisualisation not only imparts technical knowledge but also helps to make complex interrelationships visible and supports decision-making in areas such as the environment, urban planning and mobility. The versatility of the degree programme and the practical projects are a major plus here. As well as studying exciting modules, we also work extensively with modern software such as GIS, Adobe and CAD programmes. Thanks to the relatively small class sizes, we enjoy a pleasant atmosphere and excellent communication and support from the lecturers.

Communication Design (B.A.)

Hi! I'm Elias, and I study Communication Design

After completing my training as a media designer, I wanted to develop my creative skills further – which is why I moved to Würzburg. And what can I say? The degree programme has not disappointed me! Even the application process with the portfolio was exciting, and what I still particularly like about the Bachelor's programme in Communication Design is that you don't have to deal with topics that don't interest you – as was often the case at school. Instead, each semester you work on very practice-oriented projects that reflect your own interests and develop a suitable product for them. Depending on the course you choose, this can look very different, allowing you to try out many different design disciplines.

As there are usually only 10 to 12 students in each course, there is a very close-knit atmosphere. This has the great advantage that you can discuss your ideas in depth and receive constructive feedback directly. Thanks to the many workshops – whether bookbinding, model making, printing, or the professionally equipped photo and sound studio – we can realise our projects in very different ways and across a wide range of media. The results are then presented at the end of each semester at the so-called Bergwerk exhibition. In addition to the strong practical focus, there are also theoretical elements, for example in lectures such as Media Theory or Design History. I particularly appreciate the fact that, as a student, you can actively get involved – whether in helping to shape faculty projects, parties or other events.

If you are interested in a practice-oriented design degree programme in which the concept behind the design plays an important role, and if you are not satisfied with the first idea that comes to mind, then BKD is just right for you! Logistics (B.Eng.)

Hi everyone! I’m Adam, and I study Logistics at THWS.

I chose logistics for three main reasons:

I like seeing measurable results from my work.
I enjoy analyzing things, and that’s basically what you do throughout the course.
I’m curious about how things work behind the scenes.

At THWS, the logistics course offers a deep dive into the industry, from warehouse automation to IT and simulation tools. Plus, you can take part in consulting projects that provide real-world experience and prepare you for the German job market.

Media Management (B.A.)

Hi there, I’m Isabelle and I’m studying Media Management at THWS

After finishing my A-levels, I knew I wanted to work in media later on – but I wasn’t sure exactly which area I’d go into. That’s precisely why I chose Media Management. The course gives me the chance to explore lots of different topics and find out what I enjoy most.

From graphic design and content creation, through project management and marketing, to media law and business administration – we gain insights into a wide variety of areas within the media world. This helps us build up a broad base of knowledge and means we can start our careers with a wide range of skills.

I particularly like the strong practical focus. Instead of just learning theory, we regularly work on projects and can apply what we’ve learnt straight away. What’s more, the extensive group work not only results in exciting projects, but also teaches us to develop solutions together and work as a team – skills that will be indispensable later on in the media industry.

Our lecturers also have real-world experience and provide plenty of insights into their day-to-day professional lives. Thanks to the small study groups, the atmosphere is very personal and you quickly strike up conversations with fellow students and lecturers.

Robotics (B.Eng.)

Hello, I'm Chantal and I study robotics.

Robotics is one of the key fields of the future. Robots are being used in more and more areas, for example in healthcare, agriculture and, increasingly, in private households. The buzzword AI is everywhere at the moment; in robotics, it is used to enable robots to carry out increasingly complex and interesting tasks. For me, one thing is central: we should not build robots to replace people, but to support them and make their lives easier!

When choosing my degree programme, it was important to me to find a future-proof and versatile subject. Technology as a field intimidated me for a long time, but in the end I took the plunge and have not regretted it! The Robotics degree programme introduces you to a wide range of areas, from programming and mechanics to electrical engineering. You learn the theory and can apply it directly in practical sessions. After the foundation phase, there are many specialisation options to choose from.

Hello, I'm Florian and I study Business Information Systems.

Due to my own interest in economics and finance and the highly motivating school IT lessons, I chose to study Business Informatics, and even after two semesters, I would say that it is exactly the right thing for me.

The practical learning approach, with lecturers who can draw on their own professional experience and real-life case studies, gives you the confidence that you have chosen the right degree programme for the future. Working on real-life topics and problems makes you realise in which areas you could be needed after graduation.

What I love most about International Business and Engineering is its perfect blend of technology and management. The program allows me to explore both the engineering world and the business side of global industries, which makes it very diverse and exciting. I particularly enjoy understanding how technical innovations are turned into real business strategies - connecting design, production, and decision-making in an international context.

Studying at THWS has been a great experience so far. The multicultural environment offers countless opportunities to exchange ideas, work on group projects, and learn from people with different perspectives. This has helped me develop not just academically but also personally and professionally.
