Tasks of the University Council

(Art. 26 (3) Bayerisches Hochschulgesetz (Bavarian University Law))

The University Council

  1. determines the constitution and its amendment by statute as well as through claims according to Art. 106 section 2
  2. elects the president und and decides upon his/her deselection
  3. elects the other members of the university management  - excluding the chancellor - and decides upon their deselection
  4. determines candidate proposals for the appointment of chancellor after the nomination of suitable candidates for the university management
  5. decides on the development plan of the university which was established by the university management
  6. decides - upon request by the extended university management - on proposals to divide the university into faculties
  7. decides on the establishment, alteration and abolishment of degree courses
  8. comments on the establishment, alteration or abolition of scientific or artistic institutions as well as of working units by the university management
  9. comments on the estimate of cost of the budget or on the draft of the economic plan
  10. receives the president's statement of accounts and can consult about it
  11. assesses the corporation budget
  12. performs the tasks conferred upon the council by law

The university council will be heard before finalising target agreements with the state and assesses if the targets set in these target agreements can be met.
