Within the projects "Integra" and "Welcome" which are funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), THWS supports refugees who are willing and capable of higher education studies during their preparation for and transition into studies.
Advisory service before and during studies
You acquired a general higher education qualification or a higher education degree in your country of origin and are interested in studying at THWS? Being a student team, we support you on your way into your studies. Within the project "Welcome - students active for refugees", we offer individual advice on various topics
- recognition of foreign certificates (via uni-assist e.V.)
- application and enrolment at THWS
- order of study
- possible financial support during studies
- and many more
You want to start your studies at THWS but you are missing the necessary documents:
- because they were lost while you were fleeing?
- because they can no longer be obtained?
In these cases, we will run a plausibility check. Therefore, we will evaluate internally whether the prerequisites for admission are given.

Language courses and tutorials
Within the project "Integra - Integrating refugees into studies", the THWS Campus for Language Proficiency offers free language courses for refugees and international students.
The course programme as well as admission requirements are available on the pages of the Campus for Language Proficiency.
Preparatory German language courses with tutorials
You do not yet fulfil language entrance requirements for being admitted to study at THWS?
Attend our preparatory German language intensive courses.
The Welcome Team supports these language courses by offering online tutorials. During the tutorial the team will try to answer all your questions regarding the language or clarify organisational issues; it also offers additional study-related German language exercises.
If they meet the requirements, refugees intending to study can also attend language courses offered to students during the semester.

You ar already studying at THWS and want to improve your German?
Attend the German language courses offered for different levels as well as technical language courses which mostly take place in the evening and are free of charge.
English language courses during your studies
You are already studying at THWS and want to improve your English?
For this case, too, you will find offerings in the context of the Integra programme of the Campus for Language proficiency.
Workshops
In addition to preparatory language courses and language courses during the semester, there are workshops on various topics. During these workshops, you can improve your German language proficiency as well as learn important skills that facilitate your academic success and your start into a career.
