50 Years 50 Faces

Dr. Sebastian Ulbrich

Honorary professor and lecturer on the Architecture and Civil Engineering programmes and on the Integrated Design and Construction Master’s

At FHWS since 2009

For me, FHWS is …
a refreshing change of scene in my everyday working life.

What do you appreciate about FHWS?

My excellent colleagues and the hardworking students. Over the past year, I have also been impressed by the smooth and highly professional switch to online lectures in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Other higher education institutions could learn a lot from FHWS.

What was the best decision in your professional career and why? What has changed since then?

I can’t pinpoint one single professional decision, but it was definitely my daughter who brought about the greatest changes in my life.

What do you think has shaped FHWS the most over the last 50 years?

As I have "only" been here for 12 years, I can only judge that period. However, as I see it, many efforts have been undertaken by our president in recent years and many projects have also been launched to equip FHWS and make it an attractive higher education institution for the next 50 years too.

What is your vision of the future for FHWS? What might FHWS look like in 50 years’ time?

Keep up the good work!

What is your insider tip for the cities of Würzburg or Schweinfurt and why?

It’s a secret! But I’m sure that students will discover the many great festivals and wonderful places for themselves.
