Study contents

The three-semesters master's degree programme Business and Engineering at THWS combines scientific and engineering contents. You will develop strong management, technology, and interdisciplinary problem-solving competences. The main studies consist of practice-oriented research projects on the faculty's current guiding topic. You will develop theoretical knowledge in interactive lectures as well as through case studies and group work. The master's thesis in the 3rd semester is written in cooperation with a company.

1: Main studies (1st and 2nd semester)

In the 1st and 2nd semester, the foundations for the interdisciplinary combination of engineering and economics are laid. The focus is on developing analytical and strategic skills. You will learn to analyse complex problems in an economic and technological context and develop innovative solutions. The courses are practice-oriented and include case studies, group projects, and workshops. In addition, you will start your own research project in the 2nd semester, which will relate to the faculty's annually redefined guiding topic.

2: Final phase (3rd semester)

In the 3rd semester, you will apply your knowledge in an application-oriented research project and write your master's thesis. The master's colloquium will accompany you throughout your research project.

You choose an application-oriented research project within the framework of the guiding topic, which is redefined each year. You will work on this project in the 2nd and 3rd semester. Support from professors and companies in the "Academic Club" ensures that you can network both at THWS and in the business world. Methodological training and regular feedback on content enable you to make a valuable contribution to applied research.
