How is a successful brand created – and how does it remain memorable? In the master's programme in Brand and Media Management at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (THWS), you will develop in-depth knowledge in the three subject areas of branding, media, and management. You will learn how companies position brands professionally, which media channels are suitable for successful communication, and how to develop creative AI-based strategies for greater brand success. Study contents
The three-semesters master's programme in Brand and Media Management consists of 12 specialist modules and two practical projects with medium-sized companies. You will develop in-depth knowledge of corporate and brand strategies, online and mobile marketing, internal branding and influencer marketing, as well as 20 other topics. In addition, you will gain extensive team and project experience through two practical projects, conference visits, and field trips. Students build knowledge in interactive and practical seminars. This will prepare you optimally for your career start in the fields of brand, marketing, media, and (project) management.
Programme structure
1st semester
The first semester focuses on corporate, market, brand, and media strategies. You will learn how to build, position, and profile brands in a targeted manner. You will also learn how to develop brand names, secure them legally, and manage them in a value-oriented manner. In addition, you will gain hands-on experience in image and layout design, online and mobile marketing, and social media marketing. Furthermore, you will develop important team and project management skills and apply them in your first practical project with a medium-sized company in the context of real-world tasks.
2nd semester
In the second semester, you will continue with internal branding and influencer marketing, video and audio production, market research, e-commerce, and digital business models. You will also learn how brand monitoring works, what makes brand collaborations successful, how campaigns are planned, and how media planning works. In addition, you will write a scientifically based project paper in small teams. In the second practical project, you will put your existing and newly acquired skills into practice by addressing a specific issue faced by a company. In addition, you will establish industry contacts and experience the latest trends first-hand through field trips and conference visits.
3: Final phase (master's thesis)
In the third semester, you will attend four management-oriented seminars on entrepreneurship, change management, and leadership, as well as agency management and customer relationship management. In addition, you will write a practice-oriented master's thesis, which will be accompanied by a monthly master's colloquium. Your graduation will be marked by our joint graduation ceremony. Afterwards, you will be ready for a cool job in the fields of branding, marketing, media and/or management!
Specialisation
The master's programme offers you two options for specialisation. On the one hand, you have a lot of freedom in choosing the topic for your project work, and on the other hand, in the thematic focus of your master's thesis. In addition, you can attend further lectures and seminars that interest you in an optional semester abroad.

Semester or internship abroad
Every year, 8 to 12 students from our master's programme spend a semester abroad, usually during an optional 4th semester. With over 120 partner universities, there are numerous opportunities to do so.

Admission requirements
Admission requirements include a relevant bachelor's or equivalent degree with a grade of 2.5 or better, at least 20 weeks of relevant practical experience (professional practice), and at least 20 credit points in the areas of marketing, branding, and/or media (professional theory).
