Top three in Germany: THWS nominated for the "Campus-Preis Internationale Fachkräfte 2026"
An award for the Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (THWS): with its innovative peer-to-peer initiatives for onboarding international talent, THWS has reached the final of the "Campus-Preis Internationale Fachkräfte 2026" (the 2026 campus prize for international skilled workers 2026). This means that THWS is already among the top three higher education institutions in the whole of Germany in this category. This year, for the first time, the prize is being awarded jointly by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR). From 1 July, a public online vote will determine the final ranking.
"The fact that we have made it to the final round of the top three shows that our measures for integrating international students are future-oriented," says Professor Dr. Achim Förster, Vice President for Internationalisation and Teaching at THWS. Being selected from numerous entries nationwide is seen as a great endorsement of the work carried out with international students.
Video portrait: A look behind the scenes
As a first impression of the final, a media agency had already visited THWS in May to shoot a professional video portrait of the successful project. The video will form the centrepiece of the upcoming campaign.
From July to September 2026, a public online vote will decide the winner – the final ranking depends on public engagement. "THWS is therefore calling on all students, staff, and all citizens of the Mainfranken region to vote for the project," says Vice President Förster. All supporters across Germany are also invited to cast their vote for THWS and its commitment to international qualified professionals. "Our aim is to win – every vote counts from 1 July," emphasise Anca Aicha, project lead for Peer2Peer projects at the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences, and Theresia Oettle-Schnell, project coordinator at the Campus for Language Proficiency.
