Official opening of the first Indian THWS Alumni Office at RVCE campus in Bangalore

Promoting networking and exchange of the Indian THWS alumni community

The THWS Alumni Office in India was officially opened at the RV College of Engineering (RVCE), a strategic partner university of the Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (THWS) in Bangalore, India. THWS President Professor Dr. Jean Meyer and Professor Dr. Achim Förster, Vice President for Internationalisation and Teaching, attended the inauguration and unveiled the board together with RVCE Principal Professor Dr. K. N. Subramanya. In addition to Indian alumni and students, Professor. Dr. Isabel John from the Faculty of Computer Science and Business Information Systems and Manuel Glattbach from the International Office also attended.

The "THWS alumni.board INDIA" had already been founded in November 2024 and is run on a voluntary basis by alumni and High Ambassador Gaurav Veershetty. With the new Alumni Office, Indian THWS graduates now have their own space at RVCE for exchanges and events.

The "alumni.board" sees itself as an important alumni branch office – it is the association of all Indian THWS alumni from the partner universities RVCE and Christ University. Not only does it coordinate THWS alumni activities in India, but it is also a point of contact for students – events such as the "Grüner Stammtisch" (Green regulars' table) are planned to promote discussions on sustainability. The next step is to establish an "Alumni Committee" with representatives from both Indian partner universities.

In his speech, Professor Dr. Förster emphasised the particular importance of the new Alumni Office. He stressed that the office represented a central link between current and former students, thus laying the foundations for innovation and cooperation across continents: "I invite everyone to actively take advantage of the numerous initiatives and connections that will arise here. Together, we are shaping a future in which our connections inspire progress and promote excellence."

The THWS alumni community in India is significant as one in three international students at THWS is from India. Currently, the Indian alumni community comprises around 500 students, 80 per cent of whom come from Christ University and 20 per cent from RVCE.
