Facilities and support offers
In order to make studying easier for students with children and to promote family orientation and family friendliness at THWS in general, there are a number of support services available. A selection of these is listed below.
Please note, however, that there is no statutory accident insurance cover for children brought into the THWS buildings.
THWS itself offers rooms for pregnant students as places of retreat. The rooms are currently being reviewed and will be listed here gradually with access options:
Rooms in Würzburg
Sanderring
- Breastfeeding room The medical room at Sanderring 8a (room S.E.03 – next to the library) can be used as a retreat for pregnant and breastfeeding students. The key for the room is currently available at the service center at Münzstraße 12 (ground floor) and in the library.
Nappy-changing room:
You can change nappies on the 1st floor in the sanitary area for men (S.1.06) and in the lady's room (S.1.07).
Münzstraße
Breastfeeding corner There is a small breastfeeding corner with seating available in the Women's Representative's office Z.1.03. The mobile KidsBox can also be borrowed there. Access is possible during office opening hours on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 10:00 to 16:00 or by appointment.
- Nappy-changing facilities: Nappies can also be changed in the accessible toilet M.1.08. The key can be borrowed from the service center.
Röntgenring
The Röntgenring first aid rooms can be used as breastfeeding and rest rooms. Please contact the first aiders at the Röntgenring site via phone at 0931 3511 86212

Sanderheinrichsleitenweg
- Parent-child room: Room I.3.18 on Sanderheinrichsleitenweg is designated as a quiet room and breastfeeding room. This room is also used by tutors. However, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers have priority and may ask the tutors to find another location. The room also has a mobile KidBox. Access can be requested from the Facilities Management (HSGM, e-mail: hsgm[at]thws.de)
- Nappy changing facilities: Nappy changing facilities are available in the ladies' room on level 3 (I.3.33), in the men's room on level 2 (I.2.26), and in the accessible toilet on level 1 (I.1.37).
- Parent-child parking space: A parent-child parking space is now available right at the entrance to the underground car park on Sanderheinrichsleitenweg.
Rooms in Schweinfurt
Ignaz Schön Campus (formerly Campus 1)
- The first-aid room at Campus Ignaz Schön (Campus 1) may be used as a breastfeeding and relaxation room.

- Women's parking spaces There are a total of three women's parking spaces available in the car park at the Ignaz Schön Campus (Campus 1).
Ledward Campus (Building 21)
A parent-child room with a mobile KidsBox is located on the ground floor of the new Building 21 (formerly Ledward Barracks). A nappy-changing facility is available in the accessible toilet on the ground floor.

Support offers
Children's meals in Mensa am Studentenhaus (Studentenhaus canteen)
As part of the lunch menu, children accompanied by a student parent who is enrolled in the area of the Studierendenwerk Würzburg can receive a free children's meal. This offer applies to children up to the age of six. The free children's meal is only available if the accompanying person purchases a full lunch in the canteen.
Parents must present the so-called Mensa-Kinderausweis (canteen children's ID card) as proof of eligibility. This ID card can be issued for the following canteens:
- Mensa am Studentenhaus and Mensa am Hubland in Würzburg
- Mensa Schweinfurt (Fritz-Drescher-Straße)
Evangelisches Beratungszentrum (EBZ) by Diakonie Würzburg
The EBZ provides many support offers including
- Parenting advice

- Family counselling and therapy
- Children's therapy, educational therapy
- Social assistance
- Counselling on separation and divorce, mediation
- Parenting courses, communication training
