He is characterised by outstanding academic performance, his function as buddy, and his founding of the Forum FWI

The DAAD prize is awarded annually by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). It aims to give faces to the many international students at German universities and link them with their stories. The prize comes with prize money of 1,000 euros. This year, the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (FHWS) has awarded the prize to the Indian student Pranav Avadhanula. Enrolled in the English-taught degree programme Business and Engineering, he was honoured for his excellent academic performance and his commitment at FHWS.

This year’s laureate is the founder of the new initiative “Forum FWI” at the Faculty which promotes panel discussions around potential career perspectives. He spontaneously volunteered and took on additional tasks within the Faculty and included other students. Moreover, he supports new students in his role as buddy. He is currently completing his internship semester with SAP in Heidelberg.

His interest in studying in Germany was raised when as a student he visited a fair in Pune, India, where German companies and study and occupational opportunities in Germany were presented. Following this impulse, he completed a preparatory year at RV College of Christ University (partner university of FHWS) in Bangalore in order to continue his studies at FHWS. What he particularly values about his studies at FHWS are the connections with regional companies and the innovative programmes like Werk:Raum and the Campus Startup Night.

His words after being awarded this year’s DAAD prize: “I also wish to use this opportunity to thank the government and the people of Germany for providing me and many other international students the platform to realise their dreams.”
