Welcome to our German courses for refugees!

You had to flee your country and now want to study in Germany? Language skills are an important prerequisite for this.

The THWS Campus for Language Proficiency will continue to offer free language courses in 2023 for refugees who want to start studying in Germany or continue their studies in Germany.

The language levels are based on the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). Read more about the CEFR.

Independent user

B - Independent language use for advanced learners

B2 is the foundation for more complex content

At the end of the course you can understand complex and abstract texts. You can express yourself spontaneously and fluently on a wide range of topics and explain your point of view on current issues.

(B2 is a requirement for many degree programmes at THWS).

Proficient user

C1 leads to competent action in the foreign language

At the end of the course you will be able to express yourself fluently and with a wide vocabulary, in a structured and detailed way. You can use the language flexibly and competently in social and professional life.

(C1 is a requirement for a TWIN certificate at THWS).

C - Proficient use of language and subject-specific immersion

At the end of the course you will be able to express yourself fluently and with a wide vocabulary, in a structured and detailed way. You can use the language flexibly and competently in social and professional life.

What else you should know!

Requirements for participation

The courses are financed throug the DAAD-programm "Integra". The Integra programm aims to integrate refugees in the german system of higher education. Therefore a condition of participation in an Integra course is the intension to study in Germany or to continue the studies in Germany.

You should also have already reached the respective previous level and feel confident enough to move on to the next level. However, it is not necessary to prove that you have reached the previous level in order to take part in the course.

Language certificates

We hand out FHWS language certificates as well as certificates of attendance.

Do you need a language certificate? We also offer exams without a course.

Fees

The courses for refugees are supported by the Integra programm of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

The Integra programm aims to integrate refugees into the german higher education system.

Thus, refugees interested in studying do not pay any course or examination fees for Integra courses.
